1989 More news about VY9CC VY9CC, the Department's amateur radio station, has established contacts with more than 1,200 stations throughout Canada and abroad since it was launched April 3.
The station, which kicked off the Department's 20th anniversary celebrations, has been busy sending and receiving QSL cards, used by radio operators around the world to confirm contacts. It has communicated with a number of countries, including China, the Soviet Union, Indonesia, Nigeria and Algeria.
