Maryse Brunet-Lalonde is the new Special Assistant to the Senior Assistant Deputy Minister; she comes to us from the National Capital Commission, where she was Chief of Public Relations and Information... Peter Liebel has joined the department as Director General, Industry and Economic Development. Before accepting this appointment, he was the Assistant Secretary for Communications at the Ministry of State for Economic Development... The Director of Informatics Applications Management, James Feeley, has left the department to pursue interests in the videotex industry... Roy Marsh is now the Acting Director... DGFP has a new Director of Policy Co­ordination, Jean Bélanger. He was previously a Senior Policy Analyst in DGPA... Ken Yokoyama joined the International Consultative Committee Activities Section of the International Relations Branch. He was previously employed by Teleglobe... GTA Superintendent of Systems Development, Kelly Collins, has left DOC to join the Department of Supply and Services... André Gouin was appointed Manager, Telecommunications Planning, while Richard Paukstaitis, formerly with National Defence, joined GTA as Manager, Policy and Analysis, with the Planning and Coordination Division... DGBP has welcomed Tom Caplan, formerly with the old Communications Economics Branch, as an Economic Policy Analyst. He reports to the Director of New Content Services, Mary Meloshe, who is also in charge of the DOC Office Communications System field trial... The field trial Project Officer is Lyse Fournier, who comes to us from the private sector through an industrial interchange program, while Ken Dagg, formerly with Computer Services, is the new Technical Advisor... From the Australian Department of Communications, Dominic Kelly has joined Extension of Services for one year, as part of an executive exchange program... René-France Boivin, from the Correspondence Unit, is now with DGBP as the Administrative Clerk... And finally, two more employees from the old Communications Economics Branch are now with Broadcasting Policy: Hseih Wong, as a Statistical Analyst, and Janet Horton, who performs clerical duties... Information Services recently welcomed Louise Lafleur as Media Relations Officer in the Public Affairs Section. She comes to us from the Prime Minister's Office where she was a Press Assistant.

Atlantic Region: Micheline Chase, Regional Director since September 1980, has left DOC for a year to take a special course at the Royal College on Defence Studies in London, England. Réal Valiquette has assumed her duties on an acting basis... Regional Superintendent of Broadcasting Engineering Rolland Richard has accepted a new assignment at headquarters as Executive Assistant, ADMSM... The Standards Officer, Enforcement, with the Moncton Regional Office, Louis Hughes retired in February 1984. Hired as a Radio Inspector on oil tankers in the merchant navy during the Second World War, he joined the Canadian Department of Transport in 1960 and DOC in 1969. He held positions at the Montreal and Ottawa District Offices and was appointed Manager of the Bathurst District Office in 1974. He assumed his current duties in 1978.

Quebec Region: Jean Couture has moved from his position as a Radio Inspector in Saskatoon to the Sept-lles district sub-office where he is the Senior Inspector... Michelle Rompré recently took on her new duties as Communications Development Officer at the regional office in Montreal...  The Superintendent, Operational Services, Jean Gruslin, moved from the Montreal Regional Office to the GTA office at headquarters.

Ontario Region: Four employees have left the Government Telecommunications Section: Larry Hargrove, Superintendent, Operations, joined the Bank of Montreal; Don Cross, Analyst, is now working for the Mitel Corporation; Mun Seng Liu, Development Officer, resigned to work for the Government of Ontario; and Gerry Parnis, Operations Officer is continuing his studies at the University of Toronto... The Program Development and Policy Analysis Section lost its Communications Development Officer, Cliodhna McMullin, who has moved to the Department of Justice.

Central Region: Jean Proceviat, Pay and Benefits Supervisor in the Winnipeg Regional Office, retired after 35 years with the Public Service. On December 7, 1983, at a reception organized in her honour, she was presented with a silver medal, a framed plaque from the Prime Minister and many messages of congratulations from the district offices.

Pacific Region: Word processing operator Janice Herchuk has resigned from the department to work in the private sector.

Région du Québec: De son poste d'inspecteur radio à Saskatoon, Jean Couture est passé au ,sous-bureau de district de Sept-Iles, en tant qu'inspecteur responsable... Policy and Program Liaison Officer Nancy St. John accepted a new position in the private sector... Catherine Haigh, a clerk at the Vancouver Regional Office, retired after 16 years with the department.

Rhonda Ferderber, who recently completed the CAP course, has joined DGFP as a Policy and Planning Officer. Previously she had been with the Canadian Unity Information Office and UFFI Centre of Consumer and Corporate Affairs in a public relations capacity... After 32 years with the public service, Vernon MacDonald, Special Advisor, Telecommunications Standards with DGTP, has retired. Mr. MacDonald is the only Canadian to have become Chairman of the Data Transmission Network of the CCITT, a position he has held since 1972... David Gillick, who was a Senior Analyst, Broadcasting Policy with DGBP, was recently appointed Assistant Director of the International Institute of Communications in London. He replaces Mike Tiger, who returns to the department to work in DGIR... Ian McLaren, formerly Special Advisor on Film in the Cultural Affairs Sector, is now Director of Distribution with Telefilm Canada in Montreal... Robin Jackson, Manager of the Canadian Film and Videotape Certification Office, is acting as Senior Officer, Film Policy with the Film, Sound Recording and Publishing Policy Branch... Four employees have left the Film Festivals Bureau to form the nucleus of the Festivals Division at Telefilm Canada: Director Jean Lefebvre; Film and Video Steward James Muir; Information Assistant Louise Brisebois; Festivals Co-ordinator Pauline Kijek... The Internal Audit Branch has a new employee: Stéphane David, who formerly worked for Ports Canada.

Atlantic Region: The regional office has a new director, Jean-Marc Pellerin, who worked previously with Energy, Mines and Resources... Francine LeBlanc, a Programmer­Analyst, has left the Department to assume a similar position with the Department of Fisheries and Oceans in Moncton... René Guerrette, a Radio Inspector with the district office in Saint John, N.B., has been promoted to Standards Officer (Investigation) at the regional office.

Quebec Region: René Guindon is the new Regional Director, following the departure of Jacques Lyrette, who is now in charge of the new Jeanne Sauvé Institute in Laval. Mr. Guindon was formerly Director, Broadcasting Regulation at headquarters... Josée Allard, the Clerk in the Engineering Section at the regional office, has been promoted to Systems Consultant with GTA in Montreal.

Ontario Region: The regional office recently welcomed three new Communications Development Officers to the Program Development and Policy Analysis Division. They are Denis Gosselin, a graduate in communications from Laurentian University (Sudbury) and the University of Windsor; Catherine Tait, who conducted a comparative study of videotex systems at the University of Paris; and Judy Mussio, whose university studies concentrated on the cultural impact of the new communications technologies on the native people of North America... Within the same division, Pauline Wan, formerly with the Kitchener District Office; 'has taken on the duties of Senior Clerk... John Linde and Andrew Thornley, both from the private sector, joined the Ontario Regional Office as Systems Consultant and Systems Operations Officer respectively... Allister Pedersen, Chief of Program Development and Policy Analysis, will be at headquarters in Ottawa for several months, working for the MSAT Program.

Central Region: William Klymochko was hired by the regional office as a Broadcast Engineer; he comes to us from British Aerospace Limited... Harold Pengelly, a communications technologies expert, has retired after 28 years in the federal government... Leith Shearer, GTA Manager in the Saskatoon District Office, has also retired after 37 years with the public service.

Pacific Region: Dave Sinclair, who was with the Victoria District Office, has accepted a one-year assignment in the Whitehorse office as an Electronics Engineer. He replaces Bud Campbell, who accepted a transfer to the Prince George office... Florence Leach has retired after 33 years of service; she was the Clerk at the Kelowna District Office... The regional office has acquired a new Communications Development Officer, Barry Spillman, who used to work for Health and Welfare Canada.

Daniel travaillait auparavant à Agriculture Canada et Rhonda ceuvrait auprès du Centre d'information sur l'unité canadienne et auprès du Centre MIUF de Consommation et Corporations, à la section des relations publiques... Après 32 ans de service au sein de la Fonction publique, le conseiller spécial en normes de télécommunications à la DGTP, Vernon MacDonald, a pris sa retraite. M. MacDonald est le seul Canadien à avoir assumé les fonctions de président du Réseau de transmission de données du CCITT; il occupait ce poste depuis 1972... David Gillick, qui était analyste principal à la Politique de radiodiffusion de la DGBP, a été nommé récemment directeur adjoint du International Institute of Communications à Londres. Robin Jackson, gestionnaire du bureau d'émission des visas de films et bandes vidéo canadiens, assume par intérim les fonctions d'agent supérieur de la politique du film à la direction de la Politique du film, de l'enregistrement sonore et des politiques... Quatre employés ont quitté le Bureau des festivals du film pour former la division des Festivals à Téléfilm Canada. Il s'agit de Jean Lefebvre, directeur, James Muir, manutentionneur de films et vidéos, Louise Brisebois, assistante à l'information, et Pauline Kijek, coordonnatrice des festivals... La direction de la Vérification interne compte parmi ses rangs un nouvel employé : Stéphane David, auparavant à Ports Canada.

Région de l'Atlantique: Le bureau régional s'est doté d'un nouveau directeur en la personne de Jean-Marc Pellerin qui, avant cette nouvelle affectation, travaillait pour Énergie, Mines et Ressources Canada... Francine LeBlanc, programmateur et analyste régional, a quitté le Ministère pour accepter un poste semblable au ministère des Pêches et Océans à Moncton... René Guerrette, inspecteur radio au bureau de district de Saint­Jean (N.-B.), a été promu agent des normes, application des règlements, au bureau régional.

Région du Québec: René Guindon est le nouveau directeur régional à la suite du départ de Jacques Lyrette, qui assume aujourd'hui la direction du nouvel Institut Jeanne-Sauvé à Laval. M.Guindon était auparavant directeur de la Réglementation de la radiodiffusion à l'administration centrale... Josée Allard, commis à l'ingénierie au bureau régional, a été promue consultante de systèmes à l'ATG de Montréal.

Région de l'Ontario: Le bureau régional a accueilli récemment trois nouveaux agents de développement en communications, à la division de l'Analyse des politiques et du développement des programmes. Il s'agit de Denis Gosselin, diplômé en communications des universités Laurentienne (à Sudbury) et de Windsor; Catherine Tait, qui a notamment fait une étude comparative des systèmes vidéotex à l'université de Paris; et Judy Mussio, qui a concentré ses études universitaires sur les incidences culturelles des nouvelles techniques de communications sur les peuples indigènes d'Amérique du Nord... À la même division, Pauline Wan - anciennement employée au bureau de district de Kitchener - assume ses nouvelles fonctions de commis principal... Allister Pedersen, chef du développement des programmes et de l'analyse des politiques, assumera pendant quelques mois de nouvelles fonctions auprès du programme MSAT à l'administration centrale à Ottawa... John Linde et Andrew Thornley, tous deux du secteur privé, se sont joints au bureau régional du Ministère, respectivement en tant que consultant en systèmes et agent d'exploitation des systèmes.

Région du Centre: William Klymochko a été embauché par le bureau régional en tant qu'ingénieur en radiodiffusion; il nous arrive de la British Aerospace Limited... Harold Pengelly, expert en technologies de communications, a pris sa retraite après 28 ans de service à l'administration fédérale, tout comme Leith Shearer, gestionnaire de l'ATG au bureau de district de Saskatoon, qui a oeuvré 37 ans au sein de la Fonction publique.

Région du Pacifique: Dave Sinclair, du bureau de district de Victoria, a accepté une affectation d'un an au bureau de Whitehorse à titre d'ingénieur en électronique. Il remplace Bud Campbell, qui a été muté au bureau de Prince George... Après 33 ans de service au sein de la Fonction publique, Florence Leach a pris sa retraite; elle était commis au bureau de district de Kelowna... Le bureau régional s'est doté d'un nouvel agent de développement des communications, Barry Spiliman, qui travaillait auparavant à Santé et Bien­être social Canada.

Mary Ann Mooney, who has accepted the position of Systems Development Officer, was formerly a Project Supervisor with Introtel Communications... John Milnes, Safety and Special Services Technologist, has retired after 31 years of service... In the Toronto District Office, Robert Somback, who joined DOC in 1981 as a Radio Inspector, is now Licensing/Exams Specialist... Betty de Jonge moves from Personnel Assistant to Radio Inspector, after obtaining an Electronics Engineering Technician Diploma from Humber College...
