Long-service awards presented in
Atlantic Region
On Thursday, September 14, 1981, a reception was held at the Moncton regional
office, to honor four DOC employees who were presented with the Long-Service
Award in recognition of 25 years of employment in the federal government. The
presentation was made by Ken Hepburn, Assistant Deputy Minister, Spectrum
Management and Government Telecommunications.
Colette
Leblanc entered the public service in 1956 with Employment and
Immigration Canada and later transferred to DOC at Moncton, where she occupied
various positions with regional operations staff and the Moncton district
office before joining GTA in December 1979. She is originally from Ottawa.
Roger Squires from Buchans, Newfoundland,
formerly worked with the Department of Transport in Toronto, Sarnia, Ottawa
and Sault St. Marie. At DOC, he first worked with the training and manpower
development staff in Ottawa, before he transferred to Moncton in 1971, as
regional training and manpower development officer. In 1977, he returned to
Newfoundland when he was appointed district manager at Corner Brook.
Organizational changes implemented in 1980 saw Mr. Squires move to St. John's
in his present position of supervisor, authorization and enforcement.
Alfred Grezel, from Sydney, N.S., held radio operator positions in Moncton,
Grindstone, Sydney and Halifax. In 1963, he transferred to the ionosphere
station at Ottawa and subsequently to the monitoring
station in Acton. Promoted to radio inspector in 1965 at Hamilton, Mr. Grezel returned to the Atlantic Region in 1975, where he accepted a position
with operations in the regional office. The following year, he was appointed
manager of the Moncton district and laterally transferred to the Sydney district office in 1978.
Lyle Bates, born in Middle Musquodoboit, N.S.,
was employed with the Department of Transport at Moncton, Sable Island, Halifax and
Grindstone, and also had assignments on the high seas. In 1965, he became
radio inspector in Sydney, then district manager from 1972 to 1974, when he
transferred to Halifax as district inspector. Lyle was promoted to supervisor,
licensing and authorization, in the Halifax district office in 1977.
DOC gratefully recognizes the 25 years of dedicated and valuable service
rendered by our Long-Service Award recipients. Good health and best wishes for
a continuing successful career are extended to all.

Quatre employés cumulent « cent ans » de service
En septembre dernier, le bureau régional de Moncton a rendu
hommage à quatre employés du ministère en reconnaissance de leurs 25 ans de
service au sein du gouvernement fédéral. Une présentation a été effectuée par
M. Ken
Hepburn, sousministre adjoint de la Gestion du
spectre et des Télécommunications gouvernementales.
Colette
Leblanc
a fait ses débuts dans la Fonction publique
en 1956 à Emploi et Immigration Canada. Par la suite, elle s'est retrouvée au
ministère des Communications, où elle a occupé divers postes au sein de
l'équipe des opérations générales et du bureau de district de Moncton avant de
se joindre à l'A.T.G. en décembre 1979. Elle est originaire d'Ottawa.
Roger Squires, de Buchans (Terre-Neuve), a occupé divers
postes au ministère fédéral des Transports, notamment à Toronto, Sarnia,
Ottawa et Sault-Sainte-Marie. Lorsqu'il s'est joint à notre ministère, il a
d'abord été agent du service de formation et de perfectionnement de la
main-d'ceuvre à Ottawa avant de passer en 1971 à Moncton, où il a occupé les
mêmes fonctions au niveau régional. En 1977, M. Squires est retourné à sa
province natale lorsqu'il a été nommé chef de district au bureau de Corner
Brook. À la suite de remaniements structuraux effectués en 1980, il s'est
installé à Saint-Jean (T.-N.), où il occupe son présent poste, de superviseur,
autorisation et application files règlements.

Moncton, Grindstone, Sydney et Halifax. En 1963, il

1975, à la direction des opérations. L'année suivante, il a été nommé chef de
district dans la région de Moncton. Il a accepté une mutation latérale au
bureau de district de Sydney en 1978.
Lyle Bates, né à Middle
Musquodoboit (Nouvelle-Écosse), a travaillé pour le ministère des Transports
à Moncton, Île-de-Sable, Halifax et Grindstone et a
également effectué plusieurs missions en haute mer. En 1965, il est devenu
inspecteur radio à Sydney et ensuite chef de district de 1972 à 1974 lorsqu'il
est passé à Halifax en qualité d'inspecteur de district. M. Bates
a été promu au poste de superviseur de la délivrance des
licences et des autorisations au bureau de district de Halifax en 1977.
Le ministère des Communications tient à remercier ces
quatre employés pour les précieux services qu'ils ont rendus au cours des 25
dernières années. Santé et succès dans la poursuite de leur carrière!
