Décès en 2006 - Avis de décès au bas de la page

Ina Waller was the first YL ( young lady ) to earn her radio license in western Canada and she worked in the Marine Room at VAI. She was one of the girls who went with DND at Victoria. In late '46 Ina married Vic Zariski who had worked at Lulu Island. I believe at war's end Vic was posted to a station up the B.C. coast somewhere.

Obituary  -  Avis de décès

Ina Zariski

1918 - 2006

On Thursday, June 15 Ina Zariski passed away at home aged 87 years. She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Victor, sons Archie (Kim), Tom (Jean) and Mark, and grandchildren Deanne, Ross, Randy and Ryan all of whom miss her greatly.

Ina was one of the first female commercial radio operators in Western Canada and then became a "ham" ( VE8IZ ) along with Victor ( VE6DEG ). In later years she was known for her beautiful and bountiful gardens and knitted creations (from slippers to dinosaurs).

Ina was blessed with wonderful help and support from many health professionals, caregivers and friends during the time she had breast cancer, which she endured bravely and with dignity. The family extends its heartfelt thanks to all of them. Ina had a steadfast faith in God which also sustained her in difficult times. Cremation has taken place in accordance with her wishes. In lieu of other tributes, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 1200 College Plaza, 8215 - 112 Street, Edmonton, AB, T6G 2C8.
