1982 All good things must end...
The employees of the Pacific Regional Office are unanimous in their assessment of a key member of their "family" who retired last December: Walt Wheeler will be missed by his colleagues. As well as being highly respected in his own fields, he has been a friend to all.
Walt Wheeler, manager of GTA in the Pacific Region, retired after 13 years of service with the GTA and 31 years altogether with the Royal Canadian Corps of Signals.
Among his achievements was the help he provided in the planning and implementation of the original federal government shared telephone system in British Columbia.
Thanks to his efforts, there are now consolidations in Vancouver, Victoria, Nanaimo and Abbotsford.

1982 Une brillante carrière qui s'achève
Les employés du Bureau régional du Pacifique conservent un sentiment unanime à l'égard d'un membre important de leur « famille » qui a pris sa retraite en décembre dernier. II s'agit de M. Walt Wheeler, une personne qui manquera beaucoup à ses collègues. Non seulement il était très respecté dans ses propres domaines d'activité, mais aussi il a su gagner l'amitié de tous.
Walt Wheeler, directeur de l'A.T.G. dans la région du Pacifique, qui a pris sa retraite après avoir passé 13 ans à l'A.T.G. et 31 ans dans le Corps royal canadien des transmissions.
L'une de ses principales réalisations a été d'aider à la planification et la mise en place du premier réseau téléphonique partagé du gouvernement fédéral en ColombieBritannique.
Grâce à ses efforts, il existe aujourd'hui des réseaux unifiés à Vancouver, Victoria, Nanaimo et Abbotsford.
Nous adressons à Walt nos voeux d'heureuse retraite.
