Obituary

Reginald "Reg" James Walter Tucker

1927 - 2017

Reginald “ Reg” James Walter Tucker, 89, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 19, 2017 after a long struggle with progressive dementia.

Reg was born on August 25, 1927 in Calne, England, the first of three brothers. He was an accomplished athlete in school in particular running the mile in under 4:25. He was also an avid scout and his troupe participated in surveillance and wartime activities in WW2.

He enlisted in the Navy in 1944 at the age of 17 and was a radio operator and electrical / communications expert.

He married his sweetheart Jean on Mar 24, 1952. He and Jean spent several carefree years after the war riding their motorcycle around England while he completed his degree to become an Electrical Engineer. They immigrated to Montreal, Canada in 1957 for his new career with Northern Electric (which later became Northern Telecom). He became well known for implementing Quality Standards and Improvement programs and eventually became a Vice President of the company.

He was an enthusiastic participant in many activities including learning to ski and skate after he came to Canada, being an avid camper and gardener and travelling the world after his retirement. He was known for his loyalty, outgoing and generous nature, curiosity and sense of fun.

Reg is survived by Jean, his loving wife of 65 years, his two children and their spouses, Lloyd Tucker and Daphne Hubble of Toronto, Jane Tucker and Shane Peng of St Louis, four grandchildren, Katie, Zachary, Liam and Julian, brothers Rex of France and Peter of England as well as many other close friends and relatives.

Funeral Services will be held at St James the Apostle Church, 3 Cathedral Road, Brampton on Tuesday January 24 at 11:00 am. Family will be greeting guests starting at 10 am in the foyer.
