John Gilbert remembers:

Howard was a Radio Operator at Eureka from Spring 1956 to Spring 1957. He replaced Ken Woods and was replaced in turn by George Butler. I was at Eureka with Howard from August 56 until his departure.

He returned to Toronto Region where he was a Radio Inspector until he retired. I used to stop and chat with him when I visited the Toronto Regional Office.

Obituary

HOWARD ALBERT GORING

1919 - 2008

Howard Albert Goring passed away peacefully on April 13, 2008 at the Leisure World O'Connor Gate. Survived by his loving wife Jean, his stepchildren John (Jenny) and Mary (Kenneth) and grandchildren Katherine (Jason) and Adrienne (Charles).

Howard served in the Norwegian Merchant Marine during WWII, worked as a radio operator in Canada's far north in the early 1950's, and continued working with the federal government until his retirement.

He enjoyed photography, fishing, sailing, and kite flying. A skilled craftsman, he built clocks, sailboats, and magical playhouses and dollhouses. He was a gentle man, and we will cherish our memories of him.
