George Franklin GASTON

1922 - 2015

 

Peacefully at the Queensway Carleton Hospital, Friday, September 18, 2015 at the age of 93.

 

Beloved husband of the late Helen (nee Samanski). Will be dearly remembered by his brother Ernest (Kathleen) Gaston, sister Evelyn Gallinger and his niece Karen Samanski (Clinton Langille). Dear Uncle and Great-Uncle to many nieces and nephews.

 

Honoured Veteran of WWII and Legionnaire.

 

Friends are invited to gather at the St.Laurent Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 1200 Ogilvie Road to celebrate George's Life on Monday, September 28 between 12 to 2 p.m. Burial of George and Helen to take place afterwards at Beechwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Salvation Army, the Ottawa Mission or the War Amps. All organizations near to George's heart.

Sorry to hear about George's passing. If you have info about George’s time with DOC or DOT, I would appreciate receiving it.

Hi Donald:

 

Date stamps will be hard to determine/remember as I worked with George up until he retired; and I am thinking that would have been back in the late 70s.  He was one of the ones that transitioned as DoT split to become DoT and DoC.  He worked in the IRLS  - Radio Licensing Section and his boss was Al Heavenor.  Sorry, I don’t have too much more than that.  He was a technologist and did frequency assignments.  I will see if anyone has anything more specific, but that was many moons ago.
