Janis Doran

Peacefully on December 21, 2014 after a long and courageous battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy.

She will be lovingly missed by her husband Terry Jamieson, her children Daniel and Laura, and her brother Jim (Diane). Predeceased by her parents James and Jean Doran. She was a devoted mother and cherished wife.

Janis was educated at UBC and Oxford, becoming a long-time and dedicated employee of Industry Canada and Department of Communications.

Thank you to family and friends for joining her on a lifetime of adventures. All are welcome to Celebrate Her Life on Tuesday, December 30 at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity United Church, 1099 Maitland Avenue.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Parkinson Society Ottawa.

It is with sadness that I announce the passing of our friend and colleague, Janis Doran.

She passed away on December 21 after a courageous and lengthy fight against illness.

Since 1987, Janis had a long and distinguished career in the Federal Public Service with the Department of Communications and  Industry Canada. As an employee of the Strategic Policy Sector (SPS) and of the Information Technology, Telecommunication and Spectrum Sector (SITT), she notably proudly represented Canada and the Department at many of the events and landmark conferences of the International Telecommunication Union. She was held in high regards for her work, as a professional colleague, a friend to many and as a person.  For her devotion, her commitment, her concern for others and her attention to details, Canada has lost a very important expert in international relations. She will be greatly missed by her family, at work and by the international community.

To celebrate her life, pay our respect and support her family (notably, her husband Terry and her children), a memorial service will be held on Tuesday, 30 December at 11am at Trinity United Church, 1099 Maitland Avenue (South of the Queensway).

Our thoughts and prayers are with her loved ones.
