Obituary

Lloyd George Cope

1918 - 2011

Passed away in Ottawa January 11, 2011 in his 93rd year. He is survived by his wife of 68 years Constance (Hunt) and children Barbara and Christopher (Lesley), of Ottawa. He will be missed by grandchildren Tyler (Tara), Jessica and Melissa (James Liboiron) and great-grandchildren Maximilian, Freya and Daniel. Lloyd is survived by his sister Shelagh of Brockville and is predeceased by brothers Lionel and Beverly and sisters Lorraine and Betty, all having spent their lives in Muskoka.

After graduating from Port Carling Continuation School on the first day of the 2nd World War, he completed a Radio Operating Course and spent the following wartime year in the Merchant Marine as the "Sparks" on a Netherlands cargo vessel. On return from sea, he had a 35-year career in the Federal Department of Transport.

Following retirement in 1976, Lloyd pursued his passion for the outdoors at the family cottage at Ashby Lake and through his painting of birds and wildlife subjects. Many of Lloyd's bird pictures are distributed among friends worldwide.

Friends may visit at the Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 3440 Richmond Road (between Baseline Rd. and Bayshore Dr.) on Saturday, January 15, 2011 from 10 a.m. until service time in the chapel at 11:00 a.m. followed by interment at Capital Memorial Gardens 3700 Hwy 16 (Prince of Wales).
